Marijke de Jong is a Photographer and Visual Artist of Dutch and Jewish descent. She lives in the Bay of Plenty with her two children.

Marijke has been working as a freelance photographer for over 25 years. She founded Photography by Marijke in 2008 and continues to provide a range of photography services, including documentary, editorial, and portraiture.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Marijke explores underrepresented subjects, such as motherhood, generational trauma and ancestral legacies. With subtle beauty, her art practice focuses on reparative aesthetics and modes of care and healing that transcend time and place. From an animist lens, Marijke turns to ancient wisdom and nature for inspiration and believes art can be a universal language of unity that can awaken new paradigms of awareness and knowledge within societies.
